England’s first Maritime Conservation Zone – Lundy sea

The first Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) site in England has been created in the sea around Lundy Island in Devon as part of the Marine and Coastal Access Act and identified through the Marine Conservation Zone Project. The MCZ will protect nationally impartant marine wildlife, habitats, geology and geomorphology. Damaging activities will be restricted, and it is the first step towards creating a network of protected marine areas.
