European research key figures report 2008/9

1045215A new report, ‘A more research-intensive and integrated European Research Area: Science, Technology and Competitiveness key figures report 2008/2009’ , shows that since 2000 Europe has made clear progress towards a European Research Area.

The report looks at the following areas:

  • R&D investment in the European Research Area since 2000
  • Investing in human resources for R&D
  • The scientific and technological outputs of R&D activities and their high-tech outcomes
  • Attractiveness of the ERA and the integration of private R&D
  • Strengthening universities
  • Optimising research programmes and priorities
  • Research infrastructures
  • Mobility of researchers and human resources in S&T
  • Knowledge flows
  • Opening up the ERA to the world
